and that's assuming you actually managed to get your hook out of that down, which you often straight-up didn't. That is 40-52 seconds of downtime in between chases if you hook people one at a time. Pick up, carry, and hook the body (9-16 seconds)ĪND THEN you go looking for a chase. Spend about 10-15 seconds walking potentially halfway across the map as a killer with no mobility Wait 3 seconds for Victor's (at the time) pounce CD Spend 5-12 seconds carrying the survivor to a hookĪssuming you got into another chase within 15 seconds of your hook, we're talking about 29-34 seconds of downtime between chases. Lets say you were playing a more normal killer and you got a down. What is there to understand about Twins? Well, you have to play like a complete and utter jackass to make them actually function. The Twins were begrudgingly given a low-S or high-A rating by community members that actually understood the character. Not only did the killer suck ass, but both Hoarder and Coup de Grace were rendered jokes. Unfortunately, BHVR would soon add Victor's "locker hold" mechanic, which sort of addressed the problem, but also kinda doubled down on the idea of "no yeah lockers are just safe", as you can once again escape Victor completely unharmed by jumping in a locker (so long as Charlotte is more than ~25 meters away), forcing the two to play together instead of splitting up and actually capitalizing on their power. This was obviously not ideal, but it did solve the issue entirely. That said, this was actually one element that improved drastically Victor was bugged such that pounce could hit survivors in lockers. When the live version released, Victor still had no official recompense against lockers. Sure, you didn't render the killer permanently impotent anymore by babysitting, but 45 seconds is long enough that you can absolutely pound through generators. Due to their design causing them to slug involuntarily, the massive number of popular anti-slugging perks that already existed (not to mention those that would be added down the line) made Twins miserable to play.Ĭharlotte was given the ability to recall Victor on the official release. While Power Struggle itself wasn't a problem due to low usage once it hit the live servers, the theme of Twins getting absolutely fucked by perks kept going. All of those design problems, in some form or another, persisted to the live version. You would think that after being given two weeks of mass testing/feedback the devs would have fixed those problems, they just didn't. This meant that, if you were using Victor at any meaningful distance from Charlotte, you were worthless.Īs a result, while people were able to see through the bugs and find the potential for a genuinely strong killer, almost nobody came out of that PTB thinking "Yeah, I want to play those two". Victor did not originally have the ability to pull survivors out of lockers. Since Charlotte has literally no power without Victor, one survivor babysititing could literally render you worthless. Twins released on the PTB at the same time as Power Struggle, a perk that hard countered Twins.Ĭharlotte did not originally have the ability to recall Victor from a survivor's back, which led to survivors holding Victor hostage. This was in part due to bugs (Victor being stuck in the ground, Charlotte getting stuck in her wake-up, and Victor's camera/aim being tilted 45 degrees), but it was in equal part due to design oversights, with three main problems that made things terrible for Twins on their PTB.
When The Twins launched on the PTB, they were virtually unplayable. There’s no release date set for A Binding of Kin as yet.I know it's no use crying over spilt milk, but this bears repeating.
